The Social Justice Committee invites Members and Friends of UUCLC to make nominations of local organizations which will receive donations made to our Change for Change offerings for the period April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026.  Four Las Cruces or Dona Ana County charitable organizations will be selected.
 
The process for submitting nominations, the deadlines for nominations and the process for selection of winners are presented below.  The deadline for submission is Friday, March 1, 2025. Selections will be made on Sunday, March 16, 2025.

Process and Schedule for selection of four Change for Change (C4C) recipients for April 1, 2025 through March 31, 2026

Selection process

Nominees for receipt of C4C funds are to be submitted by members and friends of the congregation on or before Friday, March 1, 2025. Nominated organizations must be local charitable entities which have not received C4C funding in the most recent period (April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025). (This past year our C4C
donations went to Mesilla Valley CASA (Court-appointed Special Advocates); Cat’s Meow, Coats for Kids and Dharma Horse Equine Sanctuary.)

Supporting information will include the following:

1. Name of charitable entity (e.g. Lutheran Family Services)
2. Mailing address for nominee organization
3. Mission of nominee organization
4. Program: A short paragraph 6-10 lines summarizing program (to support a short oral presentation).
5. How will the money be used?
6. Contact name, phone number and email address of organizational contact
7. The EIN for nominated entity and affirmation that the entity is a 501(c)(3) organization
8. Name and phone number of member or friend advancing the nomination Nominations are to be submitted to the Social Justice Committee of UUCLC by e-mail to Jane Asche and David Rice.
   

Schedule for submission of nominations and selection of recipients for C4C

1. All nominations must be submitted on or before March 1, 2025.
2. The church member nominating an organization or a spokesperson for the nominated organization is expected to make a brief presentation at the special Social Justice Committee meeting on March 16, 2025.
3. The four (4) successful nominees for C4C will be selected at a special Zoom meeting of the Social Justice Committee at 2 PM on Sunday, March 16, 2025.
4. Members and Friends of UU Church LC will be eligible to vote. Votes may be cast in person or on Chat via Zoom.
