Adult Programs
Many adult programs are available at the church. They are relevant to our physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
Adult Enrichment Classes
Our adult classes generally run on a semester basis with classes in the spring and fall. Our staff, congregational volunteers, and visiting teachers and lecturers conduct the classes, which vary in length. Also, we try to schedule classes on different days and at different times so that more people can attend.
Classes are open to the congregation and occasionally to the wider community and promote Unitarian Universalist values and principles.
Our classes address one or more of these areas, which we believe are important to balanced spiritual development:
- Unitarian Universalist history and faith development,
- Physical and emotional well-being,
- Personal and spiritual awareness; and,
- Social awareness and justice.
Concerts and Lectures
Each year we offer a variety of concerts and lectures; these are normally open to the public as well as the congregation. Past programs have included: Emma’s Revolution, Still On the Hill, lectures by Michael Dowd, and Indian dancing and the poetry of Tagore.
WomenSpirit
WomenSpirit is an annual retreat that began in 2000. It is held on a long weekend every September near Cloudcroft, NM. Adult women from our church and the larger community join together for a weekend of companionship, relaxation, and spiritual renewal. There are creative hands-on activities including: arts and crafts, writing, drumming, dancing, and music. Between the opening and closing ceremonies, there are always opportunities for hiking or curling up with a good book. The retreat fee is all-inclusive with linens, lodging, and good, hearty food.
