Charlie Welch bought this homily topic at the last annual auction. He writes in part, “. . . this topic is partly the result of a dilemma in which I find myself. Having grown up in a Fundamentalist Christian family we believed we’d all reunite in heaven. It’s a wonderful vision that I don’t want to disturb for those who still believe and I’m very careful to not damage that vision for them. However, it leaves them vulnerable to shysters . . .” who would use their faith to support their own ends. Let’s explore that dilemma.
